Feature Spotlight: Easily Create Email Segments

If you’re a regular visitor of this blog, you’ve probably heard us say time and time again that approaching customers with a one-size-fits-all marketing strategy is a big marketing don’t. Segmenting your emails is one of the best ways to personalize your marketing, and it can lead to a 58% higher click-through-rate for your emails. Visitors to your online store and your customers differ in a lot of ways, like purchasing habits, demographics and other important attributes. If you are keeping tabs on your store’s analytics (and you should), this information is available—you just have to know where to look and how to access it.

Fortunately, accessing your customer’s data and using it to create highly segmented emails is ridiculously simple with our Custom Segments feature.

How Does it Work?

Once we connect to the back end of your store, we automatically pull in your customers’ data (including demographic, product and purchase behavior). Even cooler, we can pull historical data as far back as 3 years and use this data to create a few useful customer segments out-of-the-box that you can use right away.

Creating your own custom segments only takes a couple of clicks. We’ve got a ton of different criteria for you to play with, and you can select as many as you’d like — the possibilities are endless! The best part? You’ll also be able to directly target customers in these segments when sending out email campaigns and newsletters.

The Details

Step 1: In your Springbot Dashboard, you’ll select Create a Custom Segment. Now you’ll see that the springbots break down the criteria into three different categories: Demographic, Product and Purchase. Next, start choosing the criteria you would like to use when building your customer segment.

  • First, use the Demographic Criteria to select things like gender and age to determine the customers you want to target.

  • Next use the Product Criteria to choose categories from your Magento or Shopify store that the target customer has purchased from.

  • Finally, choose from the Purchase Criteria and select options like Number of Orders or Last Purchase Date to capture customers who have purchased a certain amount of times or in a certain time frame from your store.

Step 2: Once you have selected your criteria (remember, you can choose as many or as few as you would like), name your segment at the top of this page and then select the Save button.
Step 3: Once you select Save, the springbots dive into your entire customer list to see who meets all the criteria that you have selected. We’ll add these customers to the segment. Once this custom segment has finished building, you will be able to access it whenever you want. And as a side note, these segments are automatically updated every single night.

Springbot’s customer segments allow eCommerce marketers and store owners to easily categorize email contacts for the purposes of filtering results and adding personalization to email campaigns. Once the segments are created, the possibilities of personalized emails campaigns with increased conversion are endless.
